REMINDER: 10 March at 3.30pm: An invitation to help shape our school's vision
Dear all, we have been talking about our school's vision with staff and with the academy council, I feel strongly that it is the time to review our 'educating for life in all its fullness' and look to see if there is something that speaks more about our commitment to support and to nurture, both academically and emotionally. At Green Lane we work hard to see the individual in each child and to support them to be confident in their work and happy in their lives. It was for this reason that we opened our nurture nest last year and it is why we wanted to develop our own nursery provision this year. As a Church of England school our vision must link to a passage from the Bible. The proposal we have come up with is:
Loving to learn: Learning to love.
The scriptural background to this is Colossians chapter 3 most especially vs 14 โAbove all, clothe yourselves with love which binds everything together in perfect harmonyโ. The passage that surrounds this verse speaks of the character of a Christian community (which we express in our Christian values) . Love in these verses is given primacy.
Why are we thinking this might be a better vision for us moving forward? We think this expresses our concern for learning (we are a school!) on something of a journey (we are not perfectly formed, we are all in process of learning more) but sets our learning alongside our Christian love, care and concern for the wellbeing of the whole community (all of whom need nurture and support and some of whom need especial provision) . Also, learning is not just about knowledge but about character: the values we are seeking to nurture in those who connect with our school as children and adults.
We would you like to come along after school on 10 March to help us to make some decisions on our vision. The staff and the academy council are meeting at 3.30pm and we would love you to come along and help us. We will also be looking at our core Christian values and how we can develop your children's spirituality in school. So hopefully that is a date you will put in your diary. :-) ... See MoreSee Less

Can we please remind parents NOT to use the disable parking bays at the front of school unless you are a Blue Badge holder and please do not block access to these bays.
Please make sure your badge is displayed in your vehicle.
We will be politely asking people to move who do not have their badge displayed.
Thanks ... See MoreSee Less
