School Admissions

A Welcome from our Headteacher

I would like to thank you for showing interest in our wonderful school! My name is Mr Goffee and I am fortunate enough to be the Headteacher here. Green Lane is a rural school in the heart of Teesdale and at the centre of our local community. We offer a fantastic education based around achievement and success in a nurturing, holistic environment. At Green Lane we see the ultimate purpose of education as the promotion of “life in all its fullness.”

Here education is about more than just academic achievement; it is about developing young people who can flourish in all areas of their lives developing the intellectual, spiritual, moral and physical attributes, becoming proud and respectful members of our community. The Christian ethos and values are central to the experiences our children have each day at ‘Team GL.’

At Green Lane Church of England Primary School, we listen to one another and recognise each other’s worth (even when we occasionally disagree!). ‘British Values’ teach that tolerance is essential in our society, reflecting the Archbishop of Canterbury’s encouragement to be honest, loving and faithful.

If you’re interested in joining our Team GL family, we’d usually be delighted to invite you to come and have a look around and ask any questions that you might have. Due to the current circumstances with COVID19, we would ask that you get in touch with either via email at greenlane@durhamlearning.net, give us a call on 01833 690298 or on Facebook @GLCofE.

Starting school in Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception)

We’re thrilled to be welcoming our September 2020 cohort after the summer term and excited to meet the newest members of our Team GL family. Due to Coronavirus we will not be able to organise our usual face to face transition or nursery visits however, we are working super hard to make the transition to Primary School as smooth as possible for your child.

We will be in contact very soon to give you some more information about what that transition will look like.

In the meantime if you do have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via email greenlane@durhamlearning.net or give us a call so that we can get those answered as soon as possible.

You are able to order your child school uniform now and if you order by the end of June you will get it before the summer break. You can see our collection of uniform here which can be purchased online directly through our supplier and it will be delivered to your door.

As a welcome gift to our new starters in EYFS, all children will receive a complimentary book bag that we hope will help prepare them for school life at Green Lane.

Special Educational Needs

We are committed to meeting the needs of all children including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We would ask parents to discuss the identified needs with the school prior to starting so that appropriate intervention and support can be planned and implemented. Advice from the LA or other agencies may be requested to ensure any the school can meet any needs appropriately.

Visit the Durham County Council website for information regarding the school admission process and primary school admissions. To appeal against an admission decision visit: School admissions-appeals.

Applying for a school place if your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan or a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Children and young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (or Statement of Special Education Needs) follow a different admission and transfer process for a new school.  Please continue to complete Durham County Council’s parental preference form, as part of the admission process to a new school.  You continue to have a right to request a particular school and this will be considered alongside the information that we have about your child’s special educational needs.  The information would have been provided as part of the Education, Health and Care assessment or following the review meeting.

If you would like to discuss your SEN requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
