Our School Uniform

At Green Lane we have the highest expectations for appearance and have a school uniform that we’re incredibly proud to wear.

We believe that proper school uniform is important because it:

  • instils pride in the students and the wider community
  • encourages identity with, and support for, our school ethos
  • protects children from social pressures to dress in a particular way
  • nurtures cohesion and promotes good relations between different groups of pupils
  • supports effective teaching and learning.

Our School uniform consists of the following:

  • Royal blue sweatshirt, cardigan or zip top with the school crest embroidered on the front
  • Royal blue polo dress (KS1 pupils only)
  • Blue or yellow gingham school dress
  • Grey traditional school trousers/skirt/shorts
  • White polo shirt
  • Black school shoes
  • Plain grey, black or white socks/tights

PE Uniform – worn on PE Days

  • Gold PE t shirt
  • Navy shorts
  • Dark coloured sports trainers
  • Royal blue sweatshirt, cardigan or zip top with the school crest embroidered on the front
  • Navy jogging bottoms

Etika Uniforms

Through our school uniform (Etika Uniforms) supplier you can buy the following items of uniform embroidered with the school logo:

  • Sweatshirts/cardigans/zip top
  • White polo t-shirts
  • Blue polo dress (KS1 pupils only)
  • Gold PE t-shirt
  • Blue PE shorts
  • PE kit bags
  • Book bag

All other items can be sourced independently.

The wearing of jewellery such as necklaces is not allowed as they can lead to personal injury during break times or PE and could become lost.

It is especially helpful if all articles of clothing, most importantly those which will be changed during the course of the school day, are marked with the child’s name for easy identification. The identification of items of school uniform is very difficult if it is not labelled.

A little note about our school uniform supplier

Our school uniform supplier is Etika Uniforms.

“Etika is proud to supply Green Lane CE Primary School, Barnard Castle, with ethically sourced, high quality, durable school uniforms.

At Etika, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to wear and learn about ethical clothing that creates positive impacts across the globe.

Our service to the pupils, parents/carers and staff at Green Lane CE Primary School is underpinned by our ethical promise, allowing us to donate funds and deliver “wear the change” workshops to school in the UK.

All our garments are made in India, at our own factory, so we have full traceability of our supply chain, ensuring our workers are paid higher than average, treated fairly and have excellent working conditions.

We are actively working to reduce plastic within the garment industry by supplying our school uniforms in fabric bags rather than plastic.

These bags are very special, as they offer an opportunity for local communities in India to become ’empowered by enterprise’, creating employment opportunities for those who would otherwise struggle to find employment, due to a number of reasons, and a better standard of living for themselves.
