Summer Term 2019
In English, we will be continuing to improve our sentence structures to develop our writing skills and focusing on including different grammar techniques. We will be writing narratives, looking at the point of view of different characters. In reading, we will continue to answer higher order reading skills, such as inference and deduction. Regular reading practise is particularly important to increase speed and fluency.
In Maths, we are continuing to focus on fractions, decimals and percentages, moving on to looking at measurement, shape and statistics. Continued regular practise of times tables is extremely beneficial.
In Topic we are learning about crime and punishment across the ages, including the Tudors, the Victorians and more modern times. We will be investigating the punishments of the eras and comparing them to see how the justice system has evolved over the years.
In Science we will be continuing to look at properties of materials, carrying out experiments and noting our results and also investigating some famous scientists and inventors.
In PE we are concentrating on cricket and athletics. After half term we will be doing athletics with the sports coaches and look forward to an athletics competition at Staindrop at the end of the training and also our Multi-skills festival
In RE we are returning to the topic of Hinduism, exploring what Hindus believe about God.
In French we are learning the names of food and how to ask for something.
In Art we will be exploring the craft tradition of making vessels and containers and also how stories have been represented in textiles in different times and cultures.
