Summer Term 2019
Welcome back to the summer term in Class 1/2. We are all looking forward to this term and we have lots of exciting activities and events planned. In our English lessons we will continue to develop our sentence structures and use these in a range of writing genres. We will continue to practise our handwriting ensuring our writing is sitting on the line, our letters are formed correctly so we can join them easily and our writing is legible.
In Maths we are improving our skills in using the 4 processes of calculation: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will be using these skills to solve problems and investigations. We will also develop our knowledge about fractions, measurements and statistics.
In Science we are investigating living things and their habitats. We will be identifying and classifying objects, using our observational skills and ideas to suggest answers to questions and gathering and recording data to help in answering questions.
In RE we will be learning about Buddhism and learning about Buddha.
Our new topic is ‘Transportation’ and we will be designing and creating our own vehicles during the term. In the second half of the term we will also be developing our geographical skills in the local environment.
All the children will participate in a multi skills festival at Staindrop Academy in July and we will continue to have regular PE lessons.
Please continue to encourage your child to read at least 3 times a week (please sign the reading record book to say your child has read regularly at home each week) and encourage your child to complete their homework (Maths or English) each week.
Thank you all for your continued support.
